How do you fix them?
As a general note Green Bottle Units glass products can be fixed as you would fix standard pavers and tiles. This may vary depending on circumstance and application. Below is a guideline to help you.
Please take care in handling of tiles and pavers because they are glass and if broken may have sharp edges.

For internal use of tiles:
It is recommended that an epoxy mortar and grout as required is used, or a glass block adhesive (obtained from DIY retailers) to fix tiles. 'Butter' the back of tiles and fix onto mortar/ adhesive on wall. This will overcome any variations in depth of tiles.

For external use of pavers:
In gardens, bed blocks in sand or sand cement mix and grout as required (with colourant in grout if necessary). In more vulnerable situations, such as drive over or public places, it is recommended a stronger liquid non-shrinking grout system be used.

If you are cutting into existing paving to set blocks in, or if they are being used to set out from:

  • use stronger liquid non shrinking grout system to butter the backs of blocks before bedding
  • use a sand cement mix to bed in
  • use grout system to pour around block to eliminate voids and make secure.

If blocks are being laid along with other new paving blocks:

  • They can just be bedded in sand as with the other paving and made secure when the blocks around them are tamped down.
  • Tool off to finish. When glass blocks are tamped down, a rubber mallet should be used (remember a vibrating machine plate may damage blocks).
